Kitchen Manager/Head Chef

The Kitchen Manager is a valued contributor to the overall success of Chive. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for leading the kitchen team on cook days, representing Chive as on site chef at events and collaborating to create incredible food experiences for our community. This position’s primary job is to provide continued care to client, team and mission.

The Kitchen Manager must be highly organized and creative and appreciate high volume cooking. This opportunity is for advanced culinary leaders only who have Chef experience. Position requires premium experience, culinary education, long term dedication and passion for food. There is an enormous sense of ownership that goes along with this position and there is an expectation to collaborate with the owners to constantly improve, develop and evolve food and operations. Currently Chive specializes in full service catered events to private and corporate clients however, we are growing our prepared foods model and limited service catering options. We are looking for someone who can keep up with many demands of a growing business.

Chive just celebrated it’s 9th birthday.  While we are an established business with systems and standards in place we are also a growing business looking for the right next person to join our small core team.  We manage up to 100 seasonal event staff and a multitude of events at any given time but our business has a very personal and intimate feel.  Our focus on sustainability runs through every vein in our business.  As a food company, authenticity in our sourcing and creative highlight of our regions harvests is our heart beat.  We strive to create a unified culture of collaboration, collective respect for each other and our environment, as well as openness to growth.  We are lucky to have some of the hardest working and most passionate people on our team who drive us to be the best catering company ever!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– Menu collaboration and creation for special events and weekly prepared foods
– Manage Kitchen maintenance/cleanliness/equipment
– Direct point of contact for health department/compliance

– Manage food/Beverage ordering and vendor relations
– Manage creation of prep lists

Chive Cook

We are looking for talented and motivated PREP COOKS who are efficient, precise, and able to work effectively in our kitchen as a team player. We are looking for a person that can become an integral member of our team that values hard work and great organic, local, seasonal food.

EVENT COORDINATOR

POSITION OBJECTIVE
We are currently looking for a positive, results-focused Event Coordinator experienced in the industry and looking to manage events from small private affairs to full service weddings. This candidate should have a natural affinity for an intentional yet fast-paced environment, a proven track record for thinking on their feet and the ability to understand and execute a client’s needs while leveraging our team and resources at Chive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– Direct contact for definite clients
– Manage existing agreed upon contracts as well coordinate edits and or additions
– Educate and guide definite clients through the Chive planning process
– Manage clients, vendors and Chive team members according to deadlines
– Manage as-needed, day-of event insurances, permits and licenses pertinent to each event
– Manage Vendor payments
– Manage “final balance” and “settle-up” client billing
– Schedule landmark meetings with clients as well as maintain open communication/ as-needed calls.
– Lead weekly internal logistics meeting with Kitchen Manager and Event Designer
– Ensure that everything promised to the client is delivered
– Work as Event Leader as scheduled

Event Design & Floral Support

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Our design support team works with local, seasonal florals, found objects, vintage collections and loads of creativity to bring each event’s unique aesthetic to life. From chalk-board art and floral design to custom design pieces, this team works in a collaborative environment to deliver design contracts for our enthusiastic clients. If you are creative, fast paced and motivated to learn more about a team that values eco-design, apply for this position!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– clean and prep design elements in the week leading up to each event. (ex: prepping vases for floral design, prepping flowers before arranging, counting and packaging candles for transportation)
– layout + execution of chalkboard signage
– assist in arranging florals

– assist in construction of custom-made design elements (ex: handcrafted wedding altar)

Event Leader

POSITION OBJECTIVE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– contact the client prior to the event to introduce yourself as their event leader
– review the event booking prior to the event date
– review the pack-list for your event assigned by the Operations Manager
– review the team scheduled to work the event so familiar with the dynamics
– account for the team members scheduled to work each event
– direct team set-up according to the floor plans and supporting documented specifics
– manage the team to the event schedule/timeline
– manage the event to Chive’s zero waste standards
– check-in with the client and other vendors to ensure expectations are met/ maintained
– manage breakdown of the event (note that the venue is left to Chive’s cleanly standards)
– manage clean-up & unpacking at the Chive Kitchen
– be sure all team members clock-in + clock-out
– complete event review form before clocking out

Server

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Chive servers are an integral part of making our events authentic and unique. Your responsibilities as a Chive Server would include the setup and breakdown of guest seating, cocktail tables, and clearing stations that have been designed specifically for that event. You would also be responsible for providing the warm, knowledgeable and professional service to guests and other Chive team members that our company is known for. We offer an inviting work atmosphere that fosters teamwork, local food knowledge and exceptional experiences for all working or attending events.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS + REQUIREMENTS
– review the menu + bar offerings prior to the event set-up
– compose each events layout based on the master floor plan and supporting sub-plans provided by event leader specific for each event.
– Servers are in charge of the following components – tables, linens, glassware, serve-ware, and zero waste management on site at events.
– must have the event components in place and ready for service 30 minutes before the event start time for a review with all team members
– serve all guests with enthusiasm and professionalism
– ability to speak to the local offerings and house made ingredients served

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– knowledge of food (bonus if you have knowledge of local & or sustainably produced offerings from the New England Region)

Bartender

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Our bartenders are a friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating staple at each Chive event. Your responsibilities would include the setup and breakdown of bar tables, linens & beverages on each unique bar that has been designed specifically for that event. You would also be responsible for providing the warm, knowledgeable and professional service to guests and other Chive team members that our company is known for. We offer an inviting work atmosphere that fosters teamwork, local food knowledge and exceptional experiences for all working or attending events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– review of the bar offerings prior to the event set-up
– compose each events bar set-up based on the floor plan and design mock-up provided by event designer specific for each event
– Bar tenders are in charge of the following components – tables, linens, glassware, alcoholics, nonalcoholics, bar fruit & or garnishes
– must have the bar set-up complete 30 minutes before the event start time for a review with all team members
– expected to serve all guests with enthusiasm and professionalism
– ability to speak to the local offerings and house made ingredients

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS + REQUIREMENTS
– knowledge of wine, spirits & beer (bonus if you have knowledge of local & or sustainably produced offerings from the New England Region)
– personable
– motivated
– reliable
– has experience bartending in either a restaurant or event setting
– tips certified & or servsafe alcohol certified – not required but is a bonus
– has the ability to maintain a clean and attractive bar space
